Culinary Vignette: Le Petite Rousseau, Grenoble France![]() Le Petite Rousseau is a small restauraunt in the center town area of Grenoble, near the Isere river. At the time of my visit (mid-September 2008) it had only been open for about one week. Previously another restauraunt, Le Petite Ferme was in this location. ![]() Le Petite Rosseau is located on 3 rue Jean Jacques Rousseau, 38000 Grenoble, France (tel: 04 76 62 04 18). The restauraunt is located on a small street in a larger shopping area. ![]() I started my meal with a Beef Carpaccio, a very popular starter in Grenoble restaurants. The Carpaccio was very tasty, and well garnished. I enjoyed a St. Joseph wine (Rhone Cotes region) with the Carpaccio. ![]() I have had a couple of St. Josephs this trip, both 2005, and they were quite good. One of them (not this one) reminded me of an Australian Shiraz (Syrah). ![]() My main course was a Brick de Cabillaud et son beurre blanc à l'orange (Cod in a brick pastry with beurre blanc orange sauce). The pastry was shaped as a bag, and was stuffed with cod. The beurre blanc orange sauce was a nice accompaniment to the cod and pastry. The cod was served with a pyramid of rice and a medley of squashes. Overall the presentation was well done, and the meal was very tasty.
![]() With the main course, I enjoyed a Languedoc red wine. ![]() I finished this with an espresso and mini desserts- a chocolate mousse, creme brulee, and a raspberry sauce with blackberries and a biscuit for dipping. ![]() This was a very enjoyable meal, and fairly typical of restauraunts in Grenoble. The entire meal as described here was 33.50 Euros. |
